Avalons Trivia: Previously known as The Encores, the group, after landing a spot with RCA`s Groove subsidiary in 1955, was renamed The Avalons.
They emerged from the same vibrant Newport News, Virginia R&B scene that also yielded the Five Keys, the Leaders, and the Chateaus.

Avalons Trivia: The group broke up in 1958. One member, tenor Bobby Crawley, joined the Five Keys, while bass singer Bernard Purdie ultimately signed-on with the Platters.
